OPEN HOUSE & STUDENT PROJECT FAIR
Remider to all CCS families and friends….We hope you are
planning to join us for Student Project Fair and Open House

Night on Thursday, February 11th, from 6 pm to 7:30 pm.
Even though not all students will have work on special display, grades
1 through 4 and 6th will – so come and see!  Our rooms and halls
and gym will be full on the best students and parents on the planet.  Bring
anyone interested in our school.  We would love to meet them,
give them a tour and all the information they need to start
their partnership with CCS.  See you then!
Students will be displaying posters, simple machines and other fascinating student
projects for our CCS families and guests. Cookies and coffee will be provided.
Since registration for this fall will be starting soon this would be a great time for
anyone interested in CCS to stop by for a tour of the school facility and talk with
the staff.
If you have questions please call the school at 736-7657 and speak with Sharon,
Linda or Denny.
Thank you!
MOMS, DADS, STUDENTS WHO BAKE…..
p.s.  DID I SAY COOKIES?  If you would like to bring a few dozen cookies for our Open House that would really help out!  Just bring them to school anytime on Thursday the 11th.  THANK YOU! p.p.s.  FACEBOOK?  A great way to promote school events is to spread the word via Facebook about our Open House.  Is there someone you could invite to come with you on Thursday the 11th?

Have you noticed the 40 DAYS FOR LIFE banner below our CCS reader board?  As
Christians we support the sanctity of all human life and this pro-life movement is

gaining momentum each year throughout the grass roots of America.  Please take a
moment to go to www.40DaysforLife to read about all that is happening.  This year’s
40 days (Spring) event begins February 17th.  Perhaps you heard about Abby Johnson
who resigned from being a director at a Planned Parenthood and is now a born-again
Christian and outspoken pro-life advocate!

From the Principal's Desk ~

Greetings CCS families and visitors…. thanks for taking time to drop by
our school website for a few minutes!

As promised last month I would like to start a series on this welcome page focusing on

SETTING GOALS

Sound exciting?  It can be – trust me!

Consider this statement by Ed Dayton and Ted Engstrom:

“Each of us goes through life responding to his or her goals.
We may not call them ‘goals’, but that is what they are.  How we are    living at any moment is determined by the goal toward which we are      moving.  Everything we do is motivated by a goal we have.”

If you wonder if Mr. Taylor “practices what he preaches” – yes, I do.  Connie and I have our
date this Saturday morning for breakfast and our goal-setting session for this new year.  This month I will share a few basic keys to effective goal setting along with some suggested areas where setting goals can be a great help.  Each month we will be adding some more keys.
Here we go!

1.  Goal setting is working at discovering what God’s will is for our life.  (Jer. 29:11)
2.  A goal is not a goal unless it is written down.  Goal setting is goal writing.
3.  God writes down His goals. (Psalm 139:16)
4. A written goal demonstrates commitment.
5.  A written goal can be reviewed often.
6.  A goal that is reviewed several times each week is 10,000 times more likely to be   accomplished.
7. A written goal can be shared with a friend to hold us accountable.
8.  Goals that we are lovingly but firmly held accountable to will move us to great
        accomplishments.
9.  The dreaming, thinking, pondering process combined with writing is a key to discovering
        God’s will for our lives.  (I Chronicles 28: 11-12, I Chronicles 28:19, Nehemiah 2: 11-18)

…and lastly for this month…..

10. Past goals can be reviewed if we have written them down, and used to help us evaluate where
we are in our growth, character, strength, determination and abilities so we can        accurately write present goals.

So, there we have the first 10 keys to effective goal setting.  What are some AREAS of our lives where goal writing would be helpful?  How about these for starters…..

-Spiritual      -Financial      -Reading        -Travel         -Home Improvement
-Spouse date time       -Family building events -Exercise       -Friendship building
-Prayer goals           -Hospitality            -Community involvement  -Work-related
-Medical                -Learning new things            -Can YOU think of some others?

Thanks for taking time to read these thoughts.  Next month we will add some more keys
to our original 10.  God bless you and your family.
